24. Generational Continuity

Read with settings, audio and Bible references

Generational continuity is the process of transmitting knowledge, culture, spiritual values, traditions, righteous and sinful heritage from one generation to another. This feature is an integral part of each person's identification with a particular family, lineage, people, and country. If this connection is broken, then a person loses their identity and begins to adapt to one group or another, or starts everything from scratch. Being born into a particular family, a child enters the natural environment of all the people around him and close relatives and begins to absorb everything he sees and hears, what he studies and understands. Language, manner of communication, way of life, reaction to events, behavior accepted in the father's house - all this becomes the norm of life for the growing person, and he becomes part of precisely that society in which he finds himself and develops. The continuity of certain qualities or characteristics is a natural path in the development of each person. Family is the first stage that lays the foundation for everything else. After this, all kinds of social groups and societies have their influence and formation: kindergarten, school, friends, neighbors, higher educational institutions, work. And if all this is in one country and in one city or village, then your child will become a cultural representative of precisely this region. The Bible traces generational continuity and how they preserved their spiritual values, passing them from generation to generation. And if someone separated, like Ishmael, then a new cultural branch already went from him. Modern mass media now introduce their global changes and characteristics throughout the world, destroying cultural roots, globally destroying spiritual values, and erasing the identity of many countries and peoples. Urbanization (growth of cities and increase in the number of their inhabitants) destroys the identity of the nation and offers a multicultural society in one package, which makes a person no longer a representative of some culture, but a resident of a certain area. Christianity is a culture of Heavenly origin that has deep historical heritage and strong roots. Although in some families it may begin from scratch, in church brotherhood it has the deepest connections extending to the patriarch Abraham, and from him to Noah and Adam. Entering this society by the fact of being born again, each new member becomes part of a huge Heavenly family and absorbs all the spiritual values of this culture while maintaining their earthly identity of the place where they were born and raised. Generational continuity is a strong connection between past, present, and future that is carried out in any country at all levels. Families pass on their family values to children. Elders - their experience, knowledge, and wisdom. Society - its culture and traditions. Church - its faith, hope, and love. Science - its experiments, discoveries, and achievements. State - its law, order, foundations, and morality. And in all our cultural diversity, a clear line of the Plan of Salvation is traced, which is the same in all cultures and which brings all God's children into unity of faith, friendship, and love without destroying the uniqueness, mentality, and perception of each person. Faith in God and agape love make any believer a universal person who can adapt to any culture and be in demand among any people if the traditions of these peoples don't go against God's principles. There's another type of continuity that is passed from generation to generation to the third and fourth generation - this is a sinful way of life or a deal with the spirits of wickedness in heavenly places. God doesn't ask payment from children for their parents' sins and is ready to destroy generational curses at any stage if He is asked, but He observes how we raise our children and what we put into their minds. I teach my child, passing on family and spiritual values in two ways: consciously - when I understand what I'm investing in him and what I'm teaching, and unconsciously - when I live by myself and do my own things without thinking about what influence this has on my offspring. And the child sees and notices much more than we imagine. His desire to imitate parents is much stronger than it might seem from the outside. The child is arranged so that he is transformed into what he looks at. Why does the older generation call on young people to choose their future partner not by appearance but by inner content, because your other half together with you will have a colossal influence on your children and their children. The sin that I unconsciously commit or understand what it is gives the enemy of the soul the right to pass this habit by inheritance to my children. For example, there's a certain people in whose culture deception and theft are considered the norm of life and prosperity. They don't punish children for this sin but beat them if they get caught or steal from their own. How can you explain to such a person that this is bad when he's been saturated with this concept since early childhood? And if in your house it's accepted to call names, fight, and curse, then such a spiritual atmosphere will subsequently be perceived by the grown-up child as the norm of life, and he will project this model in his family and get satisfaction from such a destructive spirit. Faith in God and prayer of faith can stop any generational curse at any stage of your life and not pass this chain further. But not everyone wants this, and not everyone believes that this is possible. We see how King David's sin destroyed his life and the lives of his adult children. How King Solomon introduced such abominations into Israel that future generations couldn't completely get rid of. We also read that spiritual continuity was passed from Christ to the apostles, and through them to other disciples, and reached our days, establishing itself in truth and enriching us with new revelations and knowledge. At certain times, God established His messengers and prophets to endow us through them with that spiritual continuity that will keep us from all evil and show the snares of the evil one. Now we can choose what continuity suits us better and satisfies us. From all sides, the world offers us thousands of pleasures, but only God has one truth, one way, and one faith through Jesus Christ to endow us through all this with Heavenly values, put His law in our hearts, and teach us to live so that we would be in the blessing of love for a thousand generations. The world offers riches, sin, emptiness, and many sensual pleasures that literally flood people's consciousness with all kinds of abundance of information. And we give birth to our children among all this universal evil and think that they will somehow figure it out themselves and choose good. No, they will drown and perish, adopting the customs of the world, if we don't teach them to believe, fight, and overcome as Jesus overcame. It is precisely parents who can lay a solid foundation for the future happiness or unhappiness of a child, and God will establish this work with His Spirit and approval.
